Pampa High School is in the middle of Texas high school football country. They built a new, Texas-sized stadium, with a press box to match, and needed an elevator to shuttle people and equipment to it. The floor-to-floor travel distance was nearly 39 feet from bottom to top, meaning it needed to be shipped in 2 pieces to meet shipping restrictions. Multi-piece towers are normal fare for modular elevators, but they are typically tied into the building structure for lateral support. Pampa’s stadium did not have the structure to support this. They needed a self-supporting multi-piece elevator shaft.
